Interviews - Master’s Degree

MGIS and MS SDS

Entrance Interviews: Upon being accepted to the program, you will be contacted within a month or so to schedule an entrance interview. The entrance interviews are scheduled via an online calendar arranged by the Assistant Program Manager. The entrance interview is designed to be an informal conversation. Topics include course sequence and planning, what to expect with the culminating project, and any procedural questions that the student may have.

Exit Interviews: Upon graduation from the program, you will be contacted within a month or so to schedule an exit interview. The questions are:

  1. Outlined below are the original goals of this master's degree program. Please discuss the extent to which the program achieved these goals in your case, and how we could do better. We will also ask you about how your job or job role has changed.

    The goals of the program are to:

    • Help graduates advance their careers by becoming not only knowledgeable and skillful users of geographic information technologies, but also leaders in their organizations with regard to the design, specification, and management of geographic information infrastructures. 
    • Cultivate not only technical competence but also writing and speaking skills, analytical skills, and professionalism.
    • Serve a national and international market of adult professionals who need to participate on a part-time basis and at a distance.
  2. Please identify the strengths and weaknesses of the program.

    • Was the support staff helpful?

MPS in Homeland Security

Entrance Interviews: Once accepted into the Intelligence and Geospatial Analysis Option of the Master of Professional Studies in Homeland Security, students will be sent an email from the Geospatial Program Office with instructions to schedule an entry interview with the option coordinator.  During the interview, students will have the opportunity to review the curriculum and discuss a recommended iMPS-HLS course sequence. Discussions will also include the capstone project expectations.

Exit Interviews: During the final capstone course (GEOG 594B), students will have the opportunity to participate in an exit interview with their program advisor.
